The first recipients paid almost nothing into the system, but had their retirements paid for by the then current workers thanks to government-sponsored redistribution of wealth. Even Bush wants to expand this nation's socialist redistribution of wealth by adding a prescription drug benefit to Medicare. Property taxes paid by the wealthy pay for the public education of those who own no property, all thanks to government sponsored wealth-redistribution. And then there's tariffs, protectionism, and corporate welfare which are also a government sponsored redistributions of wealth. Like it or not, we are a socialist nation, just a little less so than most of Europe. Steve
