Good point about the Star Wars and 10,000. I'm definitely resisting the temptation to check out the scenario in which only a few are sent. However, since that prospect would definitely be national suicide for the sender, North Korea or whomever, it seems like the deterrence of an anticipated counter attack is more than enough. Without the missile defense aspects.

But, seriously, you've got me when you get the issue down to one or two or three or just a few missiles. Don't know about that.
