if Bush goes to war without approval from the Senate(House he has a lock) he will have committed politcal suicide(and in my view the Constitution and it would have to go the supreme court and the supreme having elected Bush in the first place would rule in his favor and thus put a knife into the greatest aspect of the Constitution, the system of checks and balances by given that right to go to war the right of just one man to decide. But as we have learned that system of checks and balances collapses when you get a supreme court with a political agenda, they will disregard the constitution they are supposed to defend.Max
p.s. the Vietnam war got only 2 senators to vote against it Gruening and Morse in the Gulf of Tonkin resolution.
And there is much now to indicate the Gulf of Tonkin was a set-up to get the senators to vote yes( And that goverment was under a Democratic Presidency that pulled off that scheme) as this was before McNamara caught on to the fact the the Domino Theory was a invalid, and simply wrong).
As i don't believe in revisionism, i state, John Kennedy was a deep believer in the Domino Theory and we have, therefore, no evidence that he would not also have pursued the forcing of a Vietnam War.
