Enough people hate the CIA that they want to believe the worst of them.

The haters will believe the rumors and hate the CIA anyway...

With enough levels of separation that sort of sting would be entirely deniable.

Using foreign intelligence services etc...

As I said, it is a little too Clancy but not entirely implausible.

The real reason I know this is nonsense, even if Hawk gets some fun out of it, is that something like this always comes out. Always.

Who says we're the ones actually running such an operation??

And what would be involved in making a fake tape using synthesized voice prints from previous Bin Laden tapes?? Not a lot... I don't see why it would require a large number of people knowing the truth...

As Churchill once said.. "The truth is so important that it must be protected by a bodyguard of lies"...

And that's just what they did with Ultra.. That didn't leak for over 25 years..
