Bush could call a press conference and announce he's resigning. And the reason why he's resigning is because he brought the world to a place too dangerous. That his own self-examination proved to him that his actions were hurtful and not helpful to people, not just Americans. So after calling the war off, announcing his resignation, he could then call for a worldwide discussion of people impacted by poverty, racism, undemocratic regimes, etc. to deal with the problems that bred terrorism. Cheney would do this too, putting Hastert in the presidency. This definitely wins the award for "most decoupled from reality post of the day" ! And trust me, you had plenty of competition. Here's some facts for ya: 1. We've tried diplomatically to get Saddam to disarm for over 10 years. Two times that I can recall -- the US has announced that Saddam is doing the opposite, has requested UN inspectors to visit Iraq -- Iraq stalls for time (typically about 3 - 4 months), during which time they hide as much stuff as they can. Sadly, diplomacy hasn't worked. 2. The US invested many millions in aide to the Palestinian Authority so they could begin operating like a sovereign entity. Next thing ya know, a ship with $50M in weapons is discovered headed for the PA. So the Arab world would rather fund Palestine suicide bombing instead of curing, as you said, "the problems that breed terrorism". Hey ! Why aren't the Arabs feeding and educating the Palestinian young, giving them opportunities to have productive lives and make positive contributions their society instead of bribing them to blow themselves up ?
