Hello Randall
I always try to read though the analyst opinion but in there reports sometimes you can find bits and pieces that may help you form your own decisions. Here is what I found interesting
This fee is roughly equivalent to the average annual income of an industrial worker in India.

Randall- Re:"What is different about this than PCS or VZ requiring a two year commitment? Do any analysts apply logic to their own arguments? "

As I understand, the Reliance plan is even better in that it allows the subscriber to finance the phone over three years rather than paying for it up front. The PCS sub would be able to finance it on a CC at 18% interest. I doubt the Reliance finance charge is that high.

As usual, the SSB "analysis" is not objective (IMO) by presenting the worst case short term scenario in a very favorable macro long term environment for both Reliance and India’s wireless/ telephony growth.

SSB also states “Although we continue to believe QUALCOMM remains the best positioned wireless equipment company to benefit from the move to 3G technologies over the next
3-5 years (as all 3G paths are based on the company's patented CDMA”

This statement is totally inconsistent with their long term EPS growth rate of 10%.

I guess we have to ask ourselves if SSB has a conflict of interest with it’s clients best interests and which clients this report is intended to aid? If a LTBH SSB client were to sell based upon this report and never return to Qualcomm, IMO this report represents a serious breach in faith to those clients. I believe this report is intended to support the short term trader and SSB’s bottom line by churning their client’s accounts and deriving transaction fees and commissions from such.

I don’t believe their disclosure statements reveal such information to their LTBH clients.

JMHO- Jim
