A postgraduate student. I thought I might pipe in here on this report.. 1.) I have no idea what the British were thinking (or have they cut back on their intel analysis funding THAT much?).. But plagiarizing almost a complete article is unfathomable, if not unforgivable.. And the quality control issue here (having someone verifying the data and conclusions contained in the report) should result in some folks losing their jobs. 2.) There is no mention that the researcher/student was a Department of State analyst and worked in classifying Iraqi documents (requiring that he be cleared as well to handled sensitive data and Document Exploitation (doc-ex).. 3.) Since most of Saddam's chemical weapons were produced, or acquired prior to 1991, that data might not be as obsolete as is being opined. We know that many of these rocket warheads originate from the pre-1991 period. I personally can vouch for the integrity of MIIS as an institution. It is one of the highest ranked institute for many disciplines including linguistics (I used to date a UN linguist "in training" when I was stationed at the Presidio).. And I can also state that anyone who lectures at the NPS is more than just a mere student.. As far as I'm concerned, if you're not learning something each and every day, you're not alive. So we're all students, using this definition... And btw, Marashi probably would not be permitted to travel to Iraq, considering he held a security clearance (or only on official business). And considering that there are any number of "journalists" whoring themselves out for a story, asking "soft-ball" questions in the presence of their Iraqi "minders".. (still ranting about that National Geographic program last night with Peotr Arnett...] But once again.. Not much has fundamentally changed in the past 12 years (and 17 resolutions)... Saddam is still holding out on declaring all of his WMD arsenal and we're still playing HIS game... Hawk
