Heartbreak Ridge was a total embarrassment to the Marine Corps. None of what I saw in that movie ever happened in my 4 years in the Corps. Non Marines never understood why I found the movie insulting, but it simply wasn't realistic.

Idiots... no they aren't. They're behind the scenes folks who never get ample credit for the job they do. Much of it with their life on the line. But, I guess that's true of all folks in uniform.

I'm thankful for the fact that my son just retired from 20 years in the Navy. He was involved in Desert Storm and related conflicts. Has some interesting stories about that. Lots of really neat pictures, too.

I just pray this thing will be over in a blink and we can restore Iraq to a sensible regime, with minimum loss of life on all sides. Damn the French and Germans for getting in the way!

PS. I have a Bulldog tattooed on my right shoulder. Damn right I salute that thing!
