"What would be so bad that in every "Church" to have a corner set aside for "Buddha" , and another corner set aside for the Yogi , and another for one of the "Faithful" where there be no human images standing in the way before God to offend him? They could get to know one another this way"

Unfortunately, much of religion and religious leadership reflects a need for power and control of others. Tolerance and equality become anathema to such goals of control.

Even many "gurus" who settle and work in any large city can be found to harbour intense anger and sometimes a pathological need for control over the minds and hearts of others. The fact that the young and the needy are so often attracted to these messengers of God is one of the unkindnesses of life.

I don't mean to say that all "gurus" are disturbed people; just that I have met some who were.
