Holy freakin Christ Carl! Listen to yourself. I got your damn allegory just fine. You're arguing that if the house is on fire and you tell your wife that you have to get out, and she disagrees, you have to suck it up and burn to death. That's ridiculous. The "beat your wife" doesn't apply, because we're not contemplating invading France. You're telling your wife to shut her damn cake hole and burn in hell then, you're getting the hell out of the house.

,,,You do not live in a world of rational actors. What you live in, is a world filled with fools with guns. This is a fact that you already take into account constantly in your personal life.>>>

I would like to see a study in that area, there certainly are plenty of historical precedents from man first throwing stones .
Might make nation's or leader's military actions more predictable
Could relate to the difference in religions from the fault-free Muslin attitude ( if anything bad happens its is somebody else's fault) to the Western society (maybe it was my own fault)
Tradition must be strong, British police do not carry guns. American cops would feel naked without one.
I guess it would boil down into laws or the respect for laws. And also honoring agreements.
Makes me wonder if we could send some lawyers in to look at the recent UN activities, see if anyone broke an agreement or whether the numerous Resolutions have any legal standing (g), Take it to the World Court.
