I don't see any advantage to complete political union between USA and GB. On the other hand, I don't need the Federal Government to protect me from GB. I'd like to see all barriers to trade and movement eliminated between us. Even to the point where if I decided to pack up and move to London, I'd automatically be a citizen of GB, but of course, give up my right to vote back in the US.

I DO need protection from communist China and basket cases like Mexico. But between countries with proven commitments to individual political and economic rights, and a passion for the rule of law, I just want the governments to get out of the people's way.

That's laughable... If I heard things correctly, close to 80% of the Brits are against Blairs support of the Bush war...That sort of sentiment is typical all over Europe...
