If you know anything about advertising, you know that the guy who is motivated to actually do something represents a huge percentage of people who might feel the same way, but don't have the initiative to act. It's a huge multiplier effect. I believe each person who writes a letter to a company is believed to represent between 30-100 people. I suspect that the number may be closer to the high end, when one actually has to get out and do something like march.

You can dismiss this if you like. However, imo, what you are seeing is statistically significant, and, more importantly, politically significant. I doubt Bush will dismiss it. Do not let your prejudices blind you to events of real significance.
