If you're suggesting the state honoring a living will that requests intervention to help you end your life under certain conditions, that works for me. Is that what you meant?

You can write up a living will asking that no heroic measures be taken to extend your life. You do want someone you trust and won't gain from your death to be the one who decides what's heroic.

In years past the old family doctor would ask how much more treatment the family wanted for the patient and usually recommended the best course.
