He may not have such an advanced program as Bush would have us believe, the truth may be somewhere in between

A trait that all cowardly dictators share is an instinct for self-preservation.

It is highly unlikely that Saddam will provide any pretext for us to intervene militarily.

Besides, it is now a starving country with a GDP of less than $10 billion compared to $10,000 billion of our own. About 180 children die everyday due to the effects of the last war. Many of the children are stunted due to malnutrition. Around 40% cannot afford to go to school. It's a dying country.

Besides, Iraq's neighbors don't perceive it as a threat. So why do we?

Maybe it's the $5 trillion in the ground that threatens our moral courage.

>>> Because of Bush's war mongering, we have lost the opportunity of addressing this issue in a measured way. It has been a disaster in foreign policy....and may well lead to a world disater in the future.<<<

'Tis true. What possible kind of moral message could Bush possibly deliver to the world in the aftermath of his current behavior? In my personal view, he never held any high moral ground. However, there used to exist around the world a respect for the US presidency. That's going, going, almost gone now.
