The 'It's about oil' camp thinks it's about American oil companies getting profitable control over Saddam's oil. Nonsense. Actually, on a serious note, we don't know this. We have been told this. Which is quite different from knowing. We may not know it until far down the road, either by the evidence of the long term consequences of the invasion or when the memoirs of this administration appear, or when an Ellsberg publishes internal documents.
