Why do you have trouble with this logic?

State sponsored terrorism = State sponsored Al Qaeda

Because the statement is at best partly true. al Qaeda may get funding from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Paskitan, Chechnya etc but its sponsored by religious ideologues/fundamentalists, not states.

And while we spend billions on a state sponsored war, al Qaeda grows and prospers.

Sorry but your logic may be killing us!

But OBL has called for the overthrow of the Iraqi government.

So how could you possibly argue that Saddam would sponsor Al Qaeda?

That defies logic.
