The British main concern has remained unchanged for a millennium: Prevent a single power from dominating the continent. The unholy alliance of Germany and France against the USA raises that concern for the first time since 1945. The Bush initiative to get support from the region outside Germany/France/Benelux is important to the Brits-even more so than to us-because we don't have to CARE what happens in Europe. The new thinking rising in Europe is capitalist, anti-big government, and pro-liberty. The left wing holdouts in Germany and France resist this out-of hand. But, like the American left here, they see the socialist fraud finally slipping away, and their pesky electorate starting to figure out that they have been had. The renaissance in America was accelerated by the Clinton disaster and 91101. The future in Europe holds events that will almost certainly accelerate the advance of the new 21st Century West in retarded Germany and France as well...
