They are working to protect Saddam anyway.

That's not listening.

I'm extraordinarily surprised by the size of these demonstrations today, by the level of organization it took to pull them off, by the accounts of widespread participation. I had not expected something like this to happen until either some serious foulups in the invasion or our occupation of Iraq put US troops at risk.

And you and Bill both thought it would take a long time to organize these things and offered the length of time it took to organize opposition to the Vietnam War as evidence. My counter argument had to do with the presence of 24 hour cable news and the internet. But I could not have envisioned this.

At the moment, the only likely explanation is the anger the Bush administration has generated. I had not anticipated they would be this inept with the "soft power" portion of the arsenal.
