A wee bit of background pertaining to my holdings in this company My purchases were as follows 1000 shares of Probe were purchased at $4.75 on 062298 1000 shares of Probe were purchased at $2.19 on 122898 Total 2000 shares acquired at an average cost of $3.47 All shares were sold on 021999 and I absorbed a huge loss. Here are my then February 1999 comments: I dumped two oil based holdings, both losing situations in terms of profits and losses for me. Probe Exploration, once on everyone's recommendation list, was sold. Took a huge hit on this one - fortunately, I didn't hold too large a position. Fourth quarter results don't appear encouraging to me. As all are probably aware, they are in a cash crunch and I am concerned with future operations. ReferenceMessage 7864276 Probe was maintained in my TOP 20 Portfolio, one of a few which were later broke down into my Tier I, II and III Portfolios. Today it would of been Tier II. The last Portfolio listing containing Probe can be found here. Message 7263033 The much publicized (Scandal) property write down of property/reserve values related to Probe occurred sometime after your posting in April - I think the first week of June. Reference: Message 9145865 Yes, I got caught with my pants down on the investment. But understand this, most all institutional houses and major Canadian funds got caught up in the scandal also. Shareholders like you and me wore the blunt of the situation in the end. Simply put, the company was misleading and we as investors, large and small, got hurt. Indications that something was going wrong began in late 1998. We, at this thread, touched on the subject frequently. As late as January 1999, the company issued this report - which prompted me to double my holdings in the company. I simply was buying into this information. Reference: Message 7239751 All this was happening as I was announcing I would cease posting at my SI 2 locations. A fellow named Al R was posting progress of my portfolios thereafter. I had begun to write a daily newsletter and was writing for a financial newspaper. I returned briefly last April and again now. That's why there are the gaps in my Portfolio Progress Report postings. However, the portfolios remained inactively intact and are accurate in regards to information. If you're questioning my integrity or that of the portfolios - I assure you that total accounting has taken place from conception. You can trace full accountability back to the beginning. I went to extensive postings to assure accountability was recognized. Incidently, I have had other losing entities also. They also have been accounted for leading up to current portfolio status. I hope I have addressed your comment.
