We're not going to know, in any serious sense, about the role the oil plays in this, to repeat myself, until we see the longer term consequences of the invasion or until much of the memoirs appear or, least likely, there is an Ellsberg

I would not be surprised to learn that the French and the Russians also are all over the oil issues here.

That's good to hear, John, as several of us have documented the French deals to develop some huge southern Iraqi oil fields which were put on hold by the Gulf War. And I do mean huge.
