I, too, am surprised by the rapidity with which our civil rights are stripped these days, but remember that the same arguments and situational ethics that were so convenient for "modernizing" the 2nd, 4th, 7th amendments are just as easily applied to the current situation. The arguments that should have been used all along when dealing with the abrogation of constitutional authority have been neutered by our collective cynicism and apathy.

I am concerned because some of the statements you use to disparage Bush are fruit from the poison tree. For example, you mention that a few partisan Democrats, including Ted Kennedy ytedk.com "condemn" Bush as a liar. This charge is ludicrous, coming from the likes of them.

These men are employing cynical tactics for their own political gain, nothing more, and only a fool would lend a shoulder to their cause.

The proof of their poison is that the same arguments you find convenient today to help your interests can just as easily be turned tomorrow against a cause that you hold dear.

Who are you mad at, exactly? Why not turn your rage against the man that put you in your untenable position. He is right in front of you, if you want to see him. Just turn off your monitor for a moment and his shadowy visage will appear before you.

Almost every argument you used was about something external to this country and someone external to you. You have been fooled by a phony debate which is in play solely to enrich those who orchestrated it. Forget about terrorists and troops, WTC and WMD. The time to fight those battles has long since passed and you must retreat, retrench, regroup, if you want to win back the rights to your own life.

Do pay any more attention to the soulless blathering of the media or the oily whisperings of those that promise to protect your interests, they tell you only what you want to hear so they can take what they want and discard your depleted husk. Do not go bleating to your government officials begging for their succor. They do not care about you. You are a drop of water in a stormy sea of special interests.

You are an individual. Your only friends are the constitution and those others who value it dear.

The only hope for any and all of us is to wrap ourselves in the tattered remnants of our constitution and hope that it still shelters us from the cold winds that blow more strongly now than ever.

This message may seem a little harsh, but I mean no malice by it and if you truly value the constitution, then you can count me as a friend.

misheldo re: ["I fully understand how evil Hussein is, but all of a sudden the US has gone from innocent until proven guilty to guilty until innocent when it comes to the issue of WMDs."]

...you obviously do NOT understand - how EVIL Saddam Hussein is.

Hopefully you are watching Condolesa Rice on "Meet the Press" live, as I type this ...

Saddam is already GUILTY for failing to comply with 16 prior/existing UN Resolutions...primarially UN Resolution # 1441.

Saddam's own Son-in-Law upon his defection provided US Intelligence with evidence of Saddam's Bio-Weapons Program - for which the Iraqi's ADMITTED existed.

The Botulism, VX Gas, Seren Gas & Anthrax that Saddam has massively produced - has STILL not been accounted for by Saddam as per UN Res.#1441.

Hans Blix's inspection Team and anything they do, or don't do; anything they find, or don't find - has nothing to do with Saddams present violations of 16 prior UN Resolutions.

There is no debate of Saddam's mind boggling production levels of VX, Seren, Anthrax & Botulism.

Saddam has failed to show where these WMD's have been destroyed, or disposed of.

There is Multi-Sourced International Intelligence, as well as internal Iraqi sourced Intelligence verifying the existance of Mobile-Bio Labs in Iraq. Saddam has failed to acknowledge these as well.

The Aluminum Tubes manufactured to tolerances exceeding anything other than Nuclear use...is also an issue beyond debate.

The US can never turn over ALL of it's Intelligence Information - obviously that would end the ongoing source of internal intelligence coming from within Iraq.

Multiple International Sources - including the German Intelligence Services are on record about Saddam aggressively seeking the final completeion stage of his Nuclear Program.

We can not allow someone who has already used WMD's upon his neighbors and his own people, someone who is on record for already threatening to use them against America; to complete this final stage of completing his Nuclear Weapons Program.

Saddam also now is in possession of missles whose Range also fail to comply with existing UN Resolutions.

We can not wait untill AFTER Saddam has invaded the next Kuwait, or Iran; or sent Bio,or Nuclear laden Scud's into Israel again.

The technology of the weapons that Saddam now posseses and his ongoing threats can no longer be ignored.

We learned from WW II that we can NEVER AGAIN, wait untill AFTER the next HITLER unleashes EVIL upon the world...

Technology has now raised the ante on the necessity of pre-emption...to prevent this century's next "NEVER AGAIN"...

- and that is exactly what America is going to do; once again leading the Free World in eliminating the Global Threat of EVIL.

peace is an option, but an expensive one
the only trouble is that war is much more expensive
we have had no war, but gasoline is $1.80 for premium
I expect steadily high energy prices across the board
and it wont relent

delusion is still with us in America
it is unusually prevalent
Iraq is now condemned since we have found no WMD
guilty until proved innocent
I dont like Sodomy
and we shouldnt treat him better than Jeff Skillings
we are searching for smoking guns
but we might go to war since we have found no evidence

meanwhile, pressure on energy prices is high and will remain high

I dont think we know how to find peace in this situation
Bush will work real hard to extract some political capital from a quest for peace
it will be interesting
just what will we do with 200,000 troops amassed ???

this issue with France has become humorous
what do DDay and Normandy have to do with eagerness to engage in mass killing ?
the only group I dislike more than the French are Notre Dame fans
