I don't know if the Pope is not willing to turn over priests who abuse children. Do you? Do you have links to this info? I don't know just how many catholics there are in the world but I am sure the number is large enough that the person at the top will never really know what all members are doing so I would guess that he is not able to do as you suggest. Seems to me that criminal offences are prosecuted by our courts and not by other groups such as religions. I don't think that any government in the world knows for sure what all their branches are doing and religions IMO are just another form of government operating within other governments. The point I was making is that members of the Catholic religion are at least making an attempt to clean out the criminals from their ranks...I don't notice any cleansing of radicals from islam. Do you? When a moslem radical gets killed in the act of murdering innocent people he/she is regarded as a martyr. If a catholic priest accused of molesting children gets killed we would say good riddance to the Scum. Yet for years islam has molested the minds of children to the point where they will kill themselves for a stupid cause of their leaders ...where is the outcry from members of islam for these crimes? Where is the outcry from the so called moderate moslems in the USA. It is a very bad thing to molest children but IMO it is a very very bad thing to destroy a child's mind to the point that they commit murder and commit suicide. Don't you think so?

Why is the Pope not willing/able to throw these crooks to the legal authorities ? There's over a thousand years of tradition of the Catholic hierarchy wanting police its own according to its laws, not according to local authorities.
