Z, I agree but what you and I think isn't going to make Turkey less fearful or take whatever steps are needed to protect itself.

Well, of course not, but it'll do everyone good to remember (and I forget often as well) that the Turkey of 2003 is not the same Turkey as 2001... there's an Islamist wind taking hold... the old government really was worried for its security- this one is pursuing the old government's approach just for the sake of being obstructionist.


Z, I believe that the islamic wind is firmly in place.......after all Turkey is 99% Muslim. I think the current govt's worries are twofold. Generally, their population is none to happy that the gov't is supporting the US. And the gov't is worried that their own Kurdish population [20% of total] will hook up with Iraq's Kurds. Consequently, they are feeling vulnerable to elements both within and outside the country's borders.
