it'll be painted as a matter of U.S. domestic security

does it bother you at all this is exactly what the soviets did - and how they justified it - in afghanistan in 1980?

<Let the Frenchies and the Krauts fend for themselves (and pay for it) and see how they like it.>>

Patron, France has hundreds of nuclear warheads... seems to me they've already paid for it, and their 'security' is already assured (how many major cities are there in the U.S., or in Russia for that matter? -ng)

Here's a couple of nightmare scenarios for ya:

They proclaim the Frenchie Doctrine, whereby any country seeking to build a nuclear defense shield has shown itself to be seeking world domination, and must therefore be stopped, by 'nuclear deterrence', if necessary ...

Or maybe slightly less drastic: they sign a mutual defense pact with the Germans, who turn their industrial capacity to the production of 'conventional arms' under the 'nuclear umbrella' provided by France. Russia might not like it, but, as per above, how many major cities do they have anyway? Hell, they might just decide it's better to throw their industrial capacity (and nukes) into this pan-European revival.

This all gets mighty weird might fast.

It's no coincidence that the other permanent members of the 'security council' (cute choice of name, no?) also have hundreds of warheads ... any of these 5 countries could end the world as we know it, anytime.

Meanwhile, where the f*ck's bin laden, who everybody agree's you've got the right to take out?
