In contrast with the contracts with the devil that France and Russia have signed, contracts that certainly were not in the best interests of the Iraqi people, whoever signs contracts in Iraq post liberation will not be getting lucrative deals.

The Saudi's and the Kuwaiti's have proven to be very competent managers of their national resources after kicking the foreigners. I dont expect anything less from the Iraqi's.

The Iraqi's will be the first ones to kick the Russians and the Frenchies in the teeth when they expect to implement previous one sided contracts with Saddam.

The trouble I see is that investors may be reluctant to invest in Iraq until stability has been assured. Billions of dollars need to be invested and I think a risk premium may be too high initially for many.

I expect all the global major oil companies will participate. American, French, and Russian. You should have more confidence in the Iraqi people, I am sure they wont be giving away the store after surviving under Saddam.

Twelve months from now not much will have been invested into Iraq. I imagine it will take six months from the end of the war to get any sizeable negotiations rolling and many moons after that to get initial sizable deals cut.

Rascal...How dependent are France and Germany on Iraqi oil?
