I do not trade that often... and I have not been affected by any down-time. But I know there are times in which part of their system is down...

Now I don't know whether that is due to internal or external factors because I remember messages saying it was on the other end.

I do really like seeing the orders stacked up - offer and bid - with their volumes because it gives you a sense of the direction and depth of the markets.

I always have gotten good fills (hard not to when you can see what is actually happening) and they have a SMART ordering system that sometimes improves on my trades.

I also have experience with Schwab and they are good also but more expensive.

Of course you know this is just my experience and in no way is a recommendation either way for either broker.
