I'd obstruct that nomination, too...

Oh-oh...

the Republicans desparately want to push the court system to the conservative side, and by picking someone with virtually NO public record, it raises a lot of suspicions.

Actually, for me it is a constitutional issue. I don't think the Democrats trying to dilute the president's power is a good thing. It is clear the Constitution doesn't envision this kind of "advise & consent"...

The Republicans have done similar things to liberal candidates in the past.

Never. Never have the Republicans obstructed candidates like have been done with Estrada, Pickering, and the other one (what's her name?).

When you think about nominations getting obstructed, who comes to mind? Tower, Bork, Thomas, now Pickering, Estrada, etc. I can't think of one Democrat who was obstructed by a Republican -- I can think of a couple who had legitimate problems -- like violations of the law, etc. But never was a Carter or Clinton nominee obstructed without cause the way these people have been.

It IS about politics, and it IS ugly. But the Democrats' tactics are as sorry as anything I've witnessed in politics.

I'd hesitate to sign up as one -- I'm not sure their party is going to survive.

If you can find a copy of "The Great Reckoning" by Davidson & Rees-Mogg, check it out. This book was put forth around 1990 as a guide to things to come. In it, the current problems with Islam were predicted, as well various economic issues, and the demise of the Democrat party. (They were wrong as to timing, but we are starting to see now how right they were about many things...)
