For weeks now, I have been asking the hawk contingent here to describe to me the US' post-war plans for Iraq, only to be met with patronizing assurances that surely they are in place, but just cannot be disclosed to us commoners.

This demand is unreasonable, imo. Please look in a history book, then tell me if the plans for the Occupation of Germany or Japan were all in place before the end of the war, let alone the start of the war? Our troops had little idea what reception they would meet. Basically, the territory was divided up, and a military occupation force sent in & told to take charge.

Besides, talking too much about the post-war plans (and quite a bit of that is hitting the papers) only distracts political attention from the fact the pre-war plans are not all in place. We must figure out to how to start the war & win it first.

The reason the Generals did not plan for Post-Invasion-Iraq is because they never believed there would be an invasion.

Most people I know thought we could have invaded in Oct or Nov etc. We on FADG knew the truth because of Carl's research.

Now the Administration said today "They wouldn't be ready for 2 weeks, anyway." I think the Pentagon did what was asked. Maybe some of the things Rumsfeld needed to know were thrown out with the other memos he trashed from his Generals.

I think that's a thoroughly disingenuous mischaracterization of the responses you've received.
