I hear you, Hawk.

What I see is that the Palestinian nation feel they are in war against an oppressive force. They are immersed in this war mentality, and everybody is ready to sacrifice his life (possibly because the life they lead leaves much to be desired).

In this context, I am not sure if it is Arafat who is responsible for the rising of the suicidal tendencies. Not only do I see no reliable intel that he materially pushes for more bombings, but even if so, it looks to me like he is riding the wave rather than causing it.

I believe the causes of suicide bombings are far deeper than a poster here, a TV program there.

despite suicide being against Islamic teachings

Suicide is an important sin in Islam, even if you hang yourself and harm nobody else in the process. No paradise for those who suicide, because "Only God can take back the life that he has given"... or something.

However, this being war time, the same rules don't apply, I guess.

I don't understand how any society can be populated with people who donot hunt down and put to death anyone who abuses children with propaganda of suicide bombers as martyrs.

I call the mindset of such people a mental pestilence. It's contagious and deadly. That mindset is against every American and Christian idea I know.
