There are troops from other European nationalities, including the French, at NATO bases in Germany as well. It's only a matter of time before they all withdraw troops. The dissolution of USSR was only in the past decade and the inclusion of the former Warsaw Pact countries in NATO in the last five years. NATO pulled out of France 30 years ago, or France pulled out of NATO in the late 60s.

My original post was in support of just such an idea, so why do you have to cop such a self-righteous attitude? I guess you must be from some country which has absolutely zero defensive alliances with other countries.
