You will note that Villepin stated that the invasion of Iraq was fraught with risks. Risks for whom? The US was doing the invading and conquering. France was afraid of the increases in terrorism afterward; not that the US couldn't defeat Iraq. However that is a defeatist attitude. You don't defeat OBL or Saddam by appeasing them. You go on the offense. France would rather live with terrorism for 50 yrs. or whatever, rather than take a risk of defeating OBL now. How chickenshit can you get. If Europe and the US stood together we could easily defeat the twin menaces. By dividing us up, Villepin could easly make Saddam's and OBL task easier.

You just refuse to get it. When we invade Iraq, everyone even remotely connected is at risk. The days where the effects of war are completely localized are over. Besides, terrorists groups will use the Iraqi war to do what they like to do best.......spread terror.
