I've heard this from a number of folks (like Gary Hart, General Wesley Clark, and Colonel David Hackworth)...This deeply concerns me.. 2 of these 3 are considering running for President as Democrats. Now, I wonder, what's their agenda? I would find an non-partisan analysis of the Homeland Security budget before panicing. I have no basis to judge myself but I am not taking Brookings, Hackworth and 2 Democratic presidential candidates as objective either. Paul

Why won't our Administration secure the homeland -- that should be THE HIGHEST PRIORITY. Feeling a little vulnerable over there on the couch? As a famous Demo once said..."Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." If you really believe Gary Hart, Wes Clark and David Hackworth have the solution, vote for them. If you want more money spent on homeland defense...spend some of your own on your own family. And encourage your elected officials to raise your taxes and spend more too. Your fear is not misguided. Lots of folks on this board have seen war up front and personal. It ain't pretty. And it may hit home again soon. When attacked again, we will need a team of real men and women with real fighting solutions not pacifists with big threats and no willingness to fight to defend themselves. Fortunately, the fighting team is now in place. It is most interesting that you never seem to see that current efforts might be related to homeland defense. uw
