Pope John Paul II renewed his appeal Sunday for the future European constitution to cite the continent's Christian heritage, saying such recognition would in no way diminish the secular nature of the European Union. Amazing how things come around again. I was reading a Napoleon Bio recently that one of the hassles he had with the Jacobeans was his recognition of Catholicism as the Official Religion of France. He and Josephine remarried in the Church prior to their Coronation as Emperor and Empress.
