I know that "tens of thousands" is an understatement. 150,000 died in the Gulf War, not counting the time-delay effects of the depleted uranium shells, not all of whose victims were the American veterans.

Re "study" - I have a funny feeling that it will also be a study on how to breed more terrorists. Let's see... if only 1% of the Iraqi population who will be invaded decides to become a terrorist, then it means a few hundred thousand new terrorists. Great way to make the world safe for Americans...
