Here is another perspective on the pre-emptive strike. Hitler unleashed the war machine when Germany's economy went into the tank, and helped solidify the mind and spirits of the country. Other nations have aroused national fervors to various forms of common enemy in order to distract national focus on unpleasant domestic problems. The US economy is undergoing a flushing out period that will last another five to seven years. This is natural cycle after the irrational exhuberance of the 90's and cannot be reversed, not even by AG, the God of economy, at least not until second half of this decade. The easiest and most typical strategy to divert domestic economic slowdown dilemna is by focusing the national attention and emotion to a different direction. It is being done by creating a national fervor of hate, revenge and fear. Iraq is the chosen one. It is the number one fad and fervor of the country. The priority level of domestic economy has dropped to number 20 after the issues of Iraq, Saddam, Al-Queda, evil mass murder, terrorism, WMD, cutting people's tongues, rogues, NATO rift, grudge against France and Germany, etc, etc. This issue will continue to dominate for another two years which is the magic number of how long the US forces will remain in Iraq after it is occupied. That's just after the 2004 election. After that, who would care about Iraq and its newly created problems? Today's warmongers could not care less, and they would say "That's their problem and US cannot solve everybody's problems in the world". That is why the Iraq war game is so bogus that people in the rest of the world can see it clearly but so difficult for Americans living in the US to see. The fervor is at such a high level that US news media has become sensitive to potential backlash if they were to publish or report anything even slightly question the Iraq war fever.
