It's called arrogance. An unjustified air of superiority.
Maybe you are too young remember the French Vichy forces killed many Americans in support of the Germans when the Americans landed in North Africa. The French fleet opposed ours during the invasion and was wiped out

that sounds good what you said, but it simply isn't true. it bothers them to no end that america is number 1. just like this post, it has your jaw tight and you gritting your teeth. but what americans demand is only respect...and that is why you can't ignore them.
