I don't follow oil prices, I do follow XOM some
(I inherited some shares).
Oil prices went up based on war fears.
Once war is over, oil prices will fall
and the US economy would recover some. (maybe)
It may cost us billions to fight this war and the harm
to the economy could be felt for long time.

But the boost to the economy is not the same thing as
saying we are fighting a war to gain control of the oil.
First I am not convinced we will directly gain from that.
The Iraqs will make contracts with whoever they want.

IMO from what I have read oil is over. It is only still
used because it cheaper and it allows some of our "friends" of the world to still make some money because that is all they have. Keeps world trade moving among nations which is in the best interests of everyone.
