U2's have been shot down over the Soviet Union and Cuba.

"With radar guidance the supersonic SA-2 surface-to-air missile can reach 100,000 feet, high enough to hit even the highest-flying U-2...In 1997, Iraq threatened to shoot down U-2 planes providing surveillance for the United Nations but never followed through on the threat, possibly because the U.N. U-2 flights avoided all known SA-2 sites."

"U.S. officials said in this case they were aware of SA-2 missiles in the southern no-fly zone, but they were nevertheless "surprised" at Iraq's attempt to down the unarmed U-2"

re:"It's my understanding the U-2 can fly well above 100,000 feet. Do you think the Iraqi's have rockets with that range?? A former SR-71 pilot recently suggested to a friend of mine that the U-2 flies higher than a SR-71"

LOL, I never find your analysis or attempts to make a point curious. Just samo samo dumb and stupid.

You cite the 11% spec difference and ignore the 6 times spec difference. Typical technical stupidity.
