Not one of your points has anything whatsoever to do with the points Rooney made in his article.

French Resistance? Sure, there were some, but they were greatly outnumbered by German collaborators. Not surprising, since the French are really are just mislocated Germans. And, why do you seem to think France should get a ride on the Soviets coat tails for their efforts against the Germans? Does the credit for Soviet losses somehow pass to the French via osmosis or some other means?

Are you saying this statement from that article is true or not?

The French lost WW II to the Germans in about 20 minutes.

The problem is, it looks to Americans like the French gave up a little early and waited for the allies to bail them out.

He further ignores that the Soviet Union has done an excellent job in breaking Germans' necks (and suffered with more than 17 million casualties), not the United States which, after all, were a bit late to the party (but still, 405,399 Americans lost their lives during World War II, including those died in the battle with Japan and there were 78,976 Missing in Action).

But the US is not a part of the european continent- France, Germany, Russia, UK ARE. If equivalent circumstances ever arose in N America... say hypothetically the US invaded Canada or something... I can guarantee you the occupied country would not just shut down, give up and wait for someone to bail them out, and if they DID - they would realize that their opinion on the world stage would be forever tarnished wrt war issues. The French don't seem to get that.

Please note that I am something of a peacenik with respect to this war- I am mostly against it, but I think the French and their actions are appaling and have caused a sort of backlash in the states where WWII veterans and others - who originally opposed any war with Iraq and now changing their position. What the French stance really shows to the USA- is that we have no real strong allies except the UK who have always had more courage than almost anyone on the planet (including americans imo).
