My point is that the actions of the Israelis would be seen as totally unconstitutional if they tried these stunts in the U.S. Many Americans (including me) are unaware of these injustices.

I had not heard that about the permits. Unfortunate.
I don't have the site in front handy right now, but I saw a map with all the settlements and I had no idea of the extent
of them and how many have been built isolating Hebron,
Jericho, Bethlehem, Nabalus, etc.
Many of those have been built since Camp David and Oslo.

Bush made it clear there is a desire for a contiguous
Palastinian state, meaning that most of settlements
must go.
