I was moving houses once in Sharjah, and left my photographic equipment outside the empty apartment, next to the garbage bin....must have cost around 60K Dirhams (approx $18K) which...heck that was just a little less than my annual tax free salary at the time......and a LOT of money in that country...

5 days later I just happened to walk past the apartment block, noticed my bag, and walked off with everthing intact....

And in one of the apartments we lived in, the main latch was broken and the door could never be locked. I lived there for 4 years...always forgetting to get it fixed......

I think its still the same there...and UAE is not like Saudi Arabia, its more like Singapore. Very modern and liberal...

So its not that people in these places need to be LIBERATED....I doubt if Saudi's want to be 'liberated' at all, even most women...
