We must take action to stop him and liberate the people of the region, creating an opportunity for self government; or we take no action which strengthens his entrenched oppressive regime.

Do you not see how black and white that is? You offer only two alternatives. There are other options. My point here is not to advocate any other option, only to point out that Cosmic was right about the logic flaw.

Either we liberate Iraq now or we are washing our hands of the matter and doom and gloom will ensue, according to you. That's just not the case. There are containment options that are popular among the peaceniks. You may not favor them, but they are, indeed, options. We can also defer action until there is a better international consensus, say the next time he gasses the Kurds or some such. It's absurd to think that he will grow so much in power six months or six years from now that we can no longer beat him as easily or nearly as easily as we can today. Containment and deferral are not support for him and his regime.

Like I said, I'm not arguing the substance of the issue, only the logic.
