He passed his final board of review January 14th, so it's official now. Like all marriages we've had hard times. In 1989 we almost didn't make it. The most difficult period was when the kids were pre-school. I know that this is a very stressful time for women and a trip to the grocery store to see women with no wedding rings and small children in tow will verify it. We were married for 5 years before we had children. One thing that many men do not fully understand is that a woman will shift much of her attention away from her husband after a child is born. This is of course a protective maternal instinct. After children start becoming more independent the focus starts shifting back to the husband. By the time our kids were teenagers, I was back to being No. 1 again for her. <g>
