The last part, I feel that the US trys to do more than we get credit for. I also think that we need to be firmer on some of those issues. As far smoking gun. Saddam's son-in-law spelled the whole program out. He was killed when he thought it was safe to return. Saddam's main nuclear scientist Hamsi stated that Saddam personally told him that he wanted to destroy Israel with an Abomb. Another key scientist was tortured and spent over a decade in jail because he told Saddam he was breaking UN rules. He escaped during the chaos of the gulf war. I could post more, but the whole point is that Saddams whole mission is to destroy Israel. If he can't do it, he will help others do it.
