have you tried to zip them? or is that the same utility w/pp? anyways, that may squeez some bytes out...

are you using jpeg images instead of the larger tiff files, also try reducing jpeg files further?

using applications like Jsplit which make Your zipped file into smaler bits and sending them in series would be what I would be doing

Really optimize the images and rebuild the file and you may be surprised how much diff that makes. Aside from that, as bluetreek said, split the files for ease of downloading.
