I read someplace in an article on high-end home theater systems that Ellison had his home theater in the SF house built in a room that formerly held a swimming pool. According to this article they put a floor over the pool and used the space underneath to hold a giant subwoofer that would have been large even for a commercial theater.

The article also said something there being a lot of other fancy additions to the house, so the $25 million might be result of things like solid gold bathtubs (which is something I just made up for purposes of illustration, not something I read about) instead of a jump in real estate prices.
