Hi Elmat- Most of items b,c, and d can be solved with our friend inflation (excuse me , re-flation) Part of a) can be solved with rule changes which fix pensions obligations, or early retirement, and other bad deeds, and THEN some inflation.

I thinik you may be right on the conglomerate firms -if they can span multiple economies and industries, they can make money where there's money to be made, with inputs (capital, labor, ideas, marketing, finance, manufacturing, etc.) from whereever is best and/or cheapest.

Right behind the conglomerates would be the well run multi-nationals. Drug companies, food and house hold products come to mind.
