Hi energyplay, <<If the Korean pennisula isn't free of nukes, Japan can build a large force very quickly... and thay are likely to work>>

Japan, ever the meticulous inventory takers, is missing enough plutonium for 25 war heads, and so its neighbors should suspect they already have a nuclear force.

This is why S.Korea will not roll over, by simply pointing the finger, when the time is right.

Chugs, Jay

<I think the nukes get taken away from North Korea, and South Korea doesn't get any. Period.
You are right that they won't roll over as easy as some ex-Soviet republics - but I expect they will be leaned on REALLY hard by the U.S. , Europe, and everyone else who buys their products.

I'd say China is quite happy to have North Korea acting aggressively on their side - kind of like a pet pit bull dog snarling at the trespassers coming in the gate.

It serves China's interests to have a well-armed North Korea holding the line up north and also acting as decoy away from Taiwan, Tibet and points south.

It would not surprise me if China installed a few nukes in North Korea just as the USA installed a few nukes in Turkey and points surrounding the USSR. And just as the USSR tried to install a few nukes in Cuba so that Castro could face down Kennedy and co.

The USA should stop foaming at the mouth over North Korea and deal with them on a rational basis. South Korea and Japan are in the primary firing line, so a guide could be taken from them.
