Now that it's actively promoting terrorism and censoring the news, it's a menace - even while 95% of public employees are regular folk, it's the incremental policies and profiteers who reap the benefit and rape the Republic. So, a tax revolt where the people withhold their taxes, and contribute only to necessary local charities instead has a revolutionary benefit, even if only part of the population participates. Prop 13 was when "push came to shove" and Jarvis succeeded. It's a never-ending process, and push is rapidly coming to shove once again, probably in '04-'05, only this time gov't has far more control over our daily bread and there will be a great deal more pushing and shoving, unfortunately. Listen to this thread, on the subject of conflict between the generations -- it's actually the oldsters who have partially protected themselves against excessive taxation with Prop 13...altho' failing miserably at the national level ... the newer generations are discovering taxes and unwatched gov't are a menace. I hope many more get into politics, rather than leaving it to the current crop. State tax relief can only do so much. The majority of gov't extortion is from the federal level, and there needs to be a "national Prop 13" revolt for full disclosure of ALL gov't expenditures in realtime and on the web, to get some control. Rambling on here, note today's Post story about the budget, as if all parties aren't shoveling cash as fast as possible: "Congress only came partway to Bush's vision" As if there either cares about anything other than payola. It's a macabre joke, played upon the slower-moving and more innocent of our populace. EOR ("end of rant")
