While I feel for Saddam's victims
in Iraq, I'm hard pressed to identify any good reason why action on their behalf is
warranted while we are ignoring the rest of the SOBs of the world and their victims.

Stripped to its core, that reasoning says "if you can't solve all of your problems, don't solve any of them."

The fact that you can't catch all murderers doesn't mean you don't catch the ones you can. The fact that you can't pay all your bills at once doesn't mean you don't pay at least some of them.

We have a chance here to deal with this particular SOB. Just because there are other SOBs around you aren't choosing to deal with at this moment doesn't seem to be a reason for not dealing with this one.

There may be reasons, but this isn't one that works for me.

And it isn't just people killing people that is causing people to be killed. It isn't even in the top 5 causes of death worldwide. Here are the statistics for kids under 5 that are preventable (10 MM per year):

Add to that, tobacco, a sacred cow here in the U.S., and you've got most of the death caused worldwide.
